When you’re growing up, being unique can have its drawbacks; try being the tallest girl in class - it gets you some creative nicknames, but it also gets you picked first for basketball in gym class (I should know, I’m 6’ tall). It’s the being picked first part that I like the best. Now that I’m an adult, I love the idea of being unique - I wouldn’t have it any other way. To me, unique means thinking just a little bit differently than everyone else and standing out from the pack just enough to be noticed … and hopefully picked first. It brings with it an intrigue and interest – it’s this perspective that I try to bring to my every day life and my work. Oh and it also allows me to reach things on the top shelf. |
