Marketing & Public Relations Manager

Job Description 

Summary:  This position functions as a key member of the Mirror Show Management (MSM) team and reports directly to the President and VP of Client Services.

 

The Marketing & Public Relations Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing strategic marketing and public relations plans that will support the company’s desired sales growth.  This person will act as the company spokesperson and manage all content.

 

Priorities:

  • Develop overall PR and Marketing strategy and implementation.
  • Execute customer “touch” programs and develop new customer campaigns.
  • Develop and manage the marketing and PR budgets.
  • Manage all content for (website, SEO, presentations, social media).
  • Develop a business strategy to penetrate new key target markets.
  • Hire and train Brand Specialist to assist this role and become the “new proposal lead”.
  • Target networking events for President to attend and manage the
    registration process, scheduling, content and desired outcomes and follow-up.
  • Arrange public appearances, lectures, contests, or exhibits for MSM to increase product and service awareness and to promote goodwill.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • BS, MS or MBA degree
  • 5+ years of success in marketing and public relations
  • Solid track record of achieving/exceeding goals
  • Self motivated with the ability to make and execute decisions
  • An understanding of social and new-media opportunities
  • Must be flexible and adapt quickly to shifting priorities
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent listening/interpretation skills
  • Effective and creative strategic thinker and planner

Principal Activities:

  • Develop overall Marketing and PR strategy and implementation plan.
  • Write press releases and cultivate and maintain relationships with trade, local and national media.
  • Responsible for all content including website (internet and intranet), presentations, talking points, communications materials for external and internal audiences.
  • Develop and implement ideas for customer mailings (new and existing)
  • Develop and Manage Brand Specialist (including content for new       proposals)
  • Act as media spokesperson
  • Develop a method to track competitor data
  • Key contact with ad agency

Key Challenges:

  • This is a new position so the person needs to have the drive and ability to create the role to achieve company results.
  • Bring the MSM brand to the marketplace both locally and nationally.
  • Manage Brand Specialist position (new position to MSM) and train this person as your back-up.

Performance Measures:

  • Develop a PR Plan and budget within the first 30 days.
  • Develop a Marketing plan and budget within the first 60 days.
  • Develop Brand Specialist position to act as your backup and deliver successful RFP/presentation process within 90 days.
  • MSM believes that an employee’s attitude toward their job and co-workers     is just as important as their expertise.

An appropriate attitude to work is demonstrated when employees are positive about their job responsibilities, enjoy coming to work, provide support for one another, are willing to take on new tasks, work hard and take their responsibilities seriously while carrying them out in a professional manner. Creating and maintaining a positive attitude across the company is important for morale, problem solving, skill development and ultimately productivity in the workplace.

 

Conversely, those who consistently demonstrate a negative attitude or negative thinking can have an adverse effect on the workplace, impacting individual work performance as well as job satisfaction amongst co-workers.

 

As such, MSM believes that attitude is an important performance criteria and it is incorporated into our performance evaluation process and will be measured accordingly.
